GIMME ALL YOUR FRIGGIN’ APPLES

Hello dear bloggers!
I bet you’re thinking…uh what is with that title!?
You straight trippin’ boo.

Well, I just got off the phone with a good friend of mine…and she had texted me earlier about a funny(sorta) story.

And it goes a little something like this…

One year I was reading a book to my kinder darlings.  I think I was doing an author study on Eric Carle or Leo Lionni….I can’t remember.  ANYWAYS after I read the story I decided to show them an animated version on YouTube.  We watched a short clip…then they begged me to watch another.  We did….then they begged for another and I couldn’t resist their charming ways….So I decided we would watch ONE more and I would choose.  I noticed that YouTube had a list of suggestions to the right of the video and one of those suggestions was The Giving Tree.

I LOVE Shel Silverstein..He makes my heart happy.  And I was so excited to share that story to my little ones.  Many of them had never heard it so I thought….Ok, we could watch this story and move on with our day.

I clicked play.

The video started and it was all good…until.

I noticed the story line seemed a little different…the little boy was saying something about his parents dying in a fire…I quickly grabbed the mouse to hit stop because I had a funny feeling this wasn’t the story of The Giving Tree that I was familiar with.

Well I moved too slow because…

The next thing I (and my room full of 5 year olds) hear is the little boy demanding that the tree give him all “your friggin’ apples!”  BUT THE BOY DIDN’T SAY FRIGGIN’ HE ACTUALLY CURSED!

I died. DIED!

I had to have a conversation with my littles, send a note home, and let the principal know what happened.

Everyone was really supportive about the whole thing but…I was a wreck.

ACK!  It’s a funny story NOW…

Beware of YouTube…it’s not always what it seems.

Well I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving…I cooked all day…then ate all night.  Then shopped the next day…Then got my creating on!

Oh my – I laughed out loud at this post. You poor thing!!! YouTube can be so good and so bad! Thanks for the great freebies!

Have you heard of Mentor Mob? It's basically like your own personal playlist – SAFE – of YouTube videos. And you can look on other peoples lists based on the topic. I just heard about it from Kate at EduKate & Inspire today. She heard about it from Erin Klein from Kleinspiration. 🙂

Friggin' smiles heading your way, girl!

OMG! That happened to my coworker a couple of weeks ago! She said she watched the first minute or so and figured it was ok to watch. HA! You just never know! Too funny!
